Windows related Administration tools, utilities, links, sites, webcasts, or anything else I deem "useful".
Recovery Tools
- SysInternals Suite - Awesome tools, GUI and command line, all in a single download. Boy have we all been waiting for this. Personal favorites, are procmon.exe, filemon.exe, regmon.exe, handle.exe, and procexp.exe
- quuxutils - List of command line tools, which do not require install, and some background on most of them.
- Offline NT Password & Registry Editor - Boy if you forget your password without one of these babies, you could be in a world of hurt.
- XP Change Product Key Tool - None of us have ever installed using the wrong key and needed to change it later, or gotten a computer that was bulk-installed with a generic code, and the code on the case was different. Nope, sorry for posting this one.
- Bart's Preinstalled Evironment (BartPE) - Allows you to create a live CD, which really helps in troubleshooting, when you want to actually do it inside Windows. Requires Original Media or at least the files from one.
Cheat Sheets
- Group Policy Settings Reference - A great reference chart in excel format for the Group Policy Settings, and registry keys which they pertain to.
- Windows Command Shell Overview - A great overview and reference of the Windows cmd shell. It includes a nice section on environment variables, a table of default variables, and a description of their meanings.
WebCasts
- Mark Russinovich's Webcasts - A great and informative set of webcasts on highly technical portions of Windows, troubleshooting, anti-malware techniques, and more
